My Year in Review
One thing I’ve learned about myself in the last few tumultuous weeks is that I love making lists. So, with the year drawing a close, I thought I would make a list of this year’s highlights (and low lights) in my life. And maybe afterward, I will be able to come up with a few resolutions for 2012!
First of all, 2011 is quite possibly the first year in which I have actually kept my resolutions:
In 2011, I:
- Started a photography business and worked on honing my skills
- Started doing technology, gadget, and beauty reviews on this site
- Had a photo taken by me published in a book
- Had a music video dedicated to me
- Joined Google+ and became a featured “Woman of Google+”
- Learned how to make bacon-sprinkled, white chocolate-covered cheesecake pops
- Learned how to loom knit
- Came THISCLOSE to getting my own home and did a lot of work remodeling it (still a work in progress)
- Became very poor
- Became a lot more crafty because of said poorness
- Moved in with my best friends
- Had a sister who got married again and became pregnant with her second child
- Had a best friend who opened his own business
- Designed the website for said business
- Joined the Social Media Alliance of Chattanooga
- Became an organizer for Chickamauga’s Christmas in the Streets and booked the entertainment
- Assembled a team of awesome indie music critics for Gravy and Biscuits
- Did not get approved for press tickets for Bonnaroo, for the first year ever
- Got engaged
- Got un-engaged and broke up with my boyfriend of 6 1/2 years
- Learned how to be independent and did grown-up things for possibly the first time ever
- Overcame a few bouts of crippling shyness (probably a forever work-in-progress, but hey! I’m getting there!)
- Established a very strong friendship with Lindsey, my best friend, and became half of the badass karaoke duo Scantily Plaid and the Classified Peas
- Threw up, for the first time in at least five years
- Started dating one of my best friends and high school sweetheart again (more on that later)
- Remodeled this website and turned it into an actual website (and not just a blog) to match all the different facets of my life (Seriously…check out the home page and all of the other pages!)
I can’t wait to see what next year is going to hold! Hopefully it involves learning to do even more new things, finding success and profit in one of the thousand things I do, and babies. Yes, 2012 may bring fear of the end of the world for some people, but I feel like my life is finally just beginning.

Babies?
I’m crossing my fingers that I have babies soon, anyway.
Wow, that’s a lot of stuff, even for a year. You must be doing pretty well with your shyness if you can do karaoke. I couldn’t imagine doing that, not even in private. lol
Featured in Woman of Google+ and a music video dedicated to you, that’s awesome. I watched the video and seen your name scroll in the credits. Very nice.
You sure do seem to stay busy. Happy New year and I’m sure you are right, life is just beginning.
For some reason, getting up in front of people and singing is less terrifying than doing other things, like talking on the phone to people I don’t know. Plus it helps to be slightly inebriated.
One thing that simply must happen this year is that we pick some songs, memorize and reherse the hell out of them, and come up with some kind of minimal routine. And possibly matching outfits….and sparkly gloves. Then we can be all dramatic when it’s time to Karaoke and say “suit up”. oooh, hats too. hats are important.
And lets paint the living room. What color makes a room look… tall…?
